The common skin lasers used in dermatologic surgery include
1) Ablative lasers such as Carbon dioxide laser and Erb:Yag laser. They are largely used for removal of skin tissues such as mole.
2) Pigment removal lasers such as Q-switched lasers and Intense Pulsed Light
3) Vascular lasers such as Pulsed Dye Laser and IPL
4) Non-ablative infra-red laser to stimulate collagen production such as 1540nm Aramis
Fractional lasers such as Fraxel. Personally, I think these lasers deliver only modest results and are prone to develop post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
