Cryotherapy (Cryosurgery) is a commonly used treatment in the dermatologist’s office. Cryousurgery uses liquid nitrogen to damage the diseased area. The treatment time varies from 5 seconds to half a minute. The extremely cold liquid nitrogen will freeze the pathological area, inducing necrosis. When the skin recovers after a few days, the lesion will resolve with the healing process.
There may be mild discomfort during treatment. Pigmented skin lesions, vascular lesions, viral warts, skin cancers and a lot of other skin conditions can all be effectively treated with cryosurgery.
